Added the markdown lint and fixed the exisiting linters

Testing

Locally ran the lints and validated no code changes happened.

Updated the new command to the documentation

Would you please reduce the impact of this change by removing the trailing whitespace rule from the linter, at least for now? That will greatly diminish the changeset, and we can turn that on afterwards.
